Quick Update

We were able to get all of the paperwork completed on 3-16-10 - including a RED passport!
So, we picked Alex up this morning and are now back in Kiev.

We will complete the US Embassy and medical tomorrow and Friday. We were hoping to fly home on Saturday, but there are no available flights until Monday.

Yesterday when we went to pick Alex up for the passport photos, he was crying like crazy! He was afraid that he was going to the hospital! Poor baby.

Today went much better. I was afraid of a meltdown because his favorite caregiver was there, but he only cried a little when we put him in the car. Then, he was pretty good on the 5.5 hour drive. Only had one incident of spitting and all 4 adults in the car gave him an earful. He only listened to Sasha, so I suggested that we send him home with Sasha until time to leave on Monday! LOL

He has been a handful since we have been at the apartment. He helped me unpack his clothes and tried to pull all the suitcases into the bedroom. He helped wipe up the snow off the floor from the suitcases. He is obsessed with flushing the toilet and had to try everything that we had to drink. Then, he had to spit out Sprite and Diet Pepsi. If he tries anything that he doesn't like - out it comes!
Such a mess! He seems to forget what no means and also the meaning of nyet!

The best part of the day was when we put him on Skype with Tim's mom. We tried my mom first, but she wasn't at home. Alex won his babushka over. He was waving and talking and even blew a kiss - which we had never seen him do! He got to talk to Tim's dad, but we couldn't video, so he told him hello and paka, dedushka! My dad had just left before we called, so we had to tell Tim's dad to tell him we would try again later. Will have to make an appointment with my parents for tomorrow to let them see him and talk to him.

Will update later with some photos and other stories. We are beat now.

Love,

R & T & A

Happy Happy JOY JOY!!!!
Sounds like a pretty typical three year old. Ethan (he's only 3 months older then Alex) is the same way with trying new things. Or he puts on this huge production that we have just tried to kill him. And we are all staring at him saying "Good Grief child, it was just a green bean!" LOL Last night we tried to get him to eat a Manwich and you'd have thought the world was coming to an end. 3 year olds are FUN! I can't wait to hear more Alex stories.

Wow, your timeline is impressive! Would you mind sharing who your facilitator is with me and if you were happy with him/her? My email is kariv90@comcast.net We are always looking for good facilitators to refer people to. I have enjoyed following along on your journey in Ukraine. May God bless you and your new addition!
